Jes was born into one of the wealthiest Black crime families in the city, the Dayton family. As the daughter of Cleo, a prostitute who became entangled with the organization, Jes’s life and future were dictated by the family’s rules and power. Her mother, Cleo, ultimately took the fall for the head of the Dayton family, sacrificing her freedom to protect the organization. This pivotal act left Jes feeling abandoned, prompting her to turn her back on the only family she had ever known and vowing to leave the world of crime behind her.
Jes’s resolve to escape her past was soon challenged when she crossed paths with the leader of the city’s oldest Italian crime family, the Luciani family. For decades, the Dayton and Luciani families have been bitter rivals, their feud igniting violence and tension across the city. Crossing that line was considered an act of betrayal punishable by death.
As the city becomes engulfed in the flames of an ongoing war, the stakes have never been higher. Only one family can emerge victorious and claim control over the city’s criminal underworld. With the city’s fate hanging in the balance, Jes now faces an agonizing decision: should she remain loyal to the family that raised her, despite the pain and loss they’ve caused, or embrace a new allegiance with those who offer acceptance and a fresh start? Only one family will hold the keys to the city. When the smoke clears, one question remains:  where will Jes’s loyalty lie, and who will rise to the top?
